Emtone® for Support
EMTONE® Cellulite & Skin Smoothing During Weight Loss
Smooth Texture. Improve Firmness. Refine Your Results.
Losing weight can improve metabolic health, mobility, energy, and confidence. But the number on the scale does not always predict how the skin and tissue will look afterward.
Even as body size decreases, you may continue to notice:
Cellulite dimpling
Uneven or rippled skin texture
Areas that appear less firm
Changes in tissue quality
Greater visibility of cellulite after fat loss
A difference between your new body size and your skin’s appearance
EMTONE® is a noninvasive treatment that combines controlled radiofrequency heat with targeted mechanical pressure energy. It is designed to temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite and improve the overall appearance of treated skin.
Within The Look Deeper Method™ for Medical Weight Loss, EMTONE® may be incorporated as a finishing and refinement treatment after the medical, nutritional, and metabolic foundations of weight management have been addressed.
Why Cellulite Can Remain After Weight Loss
Cellulite is not simply excess body fat.
It is influenced by several overlapping factors, including:
The structure of connective tissue beneath the skin
Subcutaneous fat compartments
Skin thickness and elasticity
Fibrous bands that tether the skin
Genetics
Hormonal influences
Aging
Tissue circulation and quality
Cellulite can occur in people of many weights, fitness levels, body types, and genders. It is commonly seen on the thighs, hips, buttocks, and abdomen.
Weight loss may reduce the size of fat cells and improve body measurements, but it does not necessarily change every connective-tissue band, area of skin laxity, or surface irregularity.
This is why a patient can achieve meaningful weight loss and still feel dissatisfied with cellulite or uneven texture.
How Does EMTONE® Work?
EMTONE® delivers two forms of energy simultaneously.
Radiofrequency Energy (RF)
The RF component produces controlled heating within the tissue, elevating tissue temperature to increase local circulation and provide temporary relief of pain and muscle spasm. Heat also allows for the destruction of fat cells and changed in cellulite appearance and skin laxity.
Targeted Pressure Energy
The mechanical component delivers rapid, repetitive pressure pulses to the treatment area. Patients generally experience this as an intense vibration or massage sensation.
Where EMTONE® Fits Into Medical Weight Management
EMTONE® may be considered during or after weight loss when your primary concern is:
Persistent cellulite
Dimpling on the thighs or buttocks
Uneven abdominal texture
Mild loss of firmness
Texture changes after body-size reduction
Areas that look less smooth despite healthy habits
Refinement after reaching or approaching a stable weight
Common Treatment Areas
EMTONE® may be used on appropriately selected areas such as the:
Abdomen
Buttocks
Front of the thighs
Back of the thighs
Inner or outer thighs
Hips
Upper arms
The exact treatment plan depends on where cellulite or excess fat is present, the amount of tissue available for treatment, skin condition, medical history, and device guidelines.
What Does the Treatment Feel Like?
During treatment, the EMTONE® applicator is moved across the selected area while radiofrequency heat and mechanical pulses are delivered.
Most patients describe:
Deep warmth
Strong vibration
Rhythmic mechanical pressure
A hot-stone massage sensation
Mild to moderate intensity without the need for anesthesia
The treatment should feel warm and active, but it should not feel like burning or sharp pain.
Refine the Results of Your Weight-Loss Journey
Medical weight loss can improve your health and change your body size, but it does not always eliminate cellulite or create the smooth, firm appearance you expected.
EMTONE® offers a noninvasive way to temporarily reduce cellulite appearance and improve skin texture as part of a thoughtful body-refinement plan.
It does not replace weight management.
It helps address one of the concerns that may remain after the weight begins to change.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
EMTONE® may be appropriate for adults who:
Have visible cellulite
Have mild to moderate texture concerns
Are actively losing weight at a medically appropriate pace
Have reached or are approaching weight stability
Want noninvasive body refinement
Prefer a treatment without planned recovery time
Understand that results are temporary and variable
Do not expect EMTONE® to produce weight loss
Cellulite can affect adults across many weights and body types, so candidacy is based more on tissue characteristics and treatment goals than on a particular number on the scale.
-
No.
EMTONE® is not a treatment for obesity or whole-body weight reduction. Its official aesthetic role is temporary improvement in the appearance of cellulite.
-
A small clinical study reported circumference changes in some treated areas even though participants’ weight and BMI did not change significantly. Because the study was small and uncontrolled, a specific reduction in inches should not be guaranteed.
-
No.
Cellulite appearance may improve, but results are temporary and cellulite can become more noticeable again with aging, hormonal changes, weight fluctuations, or changes in skin quality.
-
Not necessarily.
Treatment may begin during gradual weight loss when expectations are realistic. Patients expecting substantial additional body-size changes may benefit from waiting until they are closer to a stable weight.
-
EMTONE® may improve the appearance of mild laxity or texture in selected patients.
It cannot remove large amounts of hanging or excess skin and should not be presented as an alternative to a body lift or other surgery.
-
No.
It does not directly treat fat surrounding the internal organs. Visceral-fat risk is addressed through medical weight management, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and treatment of metabolic conditions.
-
No.
EMTONE® primarily addresses cellulite and skin texture. EMSCULPT NEO® focuses on muscle stimulation and localized body contouring.
-
Yes, when each treatment addresses a distinct concern.
EMSCULPT NEO® may support underlying muscle and contour, while EMTONE® addresses overlying cellulite and skin texture.
-
A typical initial series consists of approximately four treatments performed once or twice weekly, although your plan may vary.
-
Most patients describe deep warmth and intense vibration similar to a hot-stone massage. Burning or sharp pain is not expected and should be reported immediately.
-
There is generally no planned downtime, and most patients return to normal activity immediately.
-
Some patients notice temporary smoothness soon after treatment. More visible changes may develop gradually during the series and over the following weeks or months.
Potential improvements may include:
Softer-looking cellulite dimples
Smoother skin texture
A firmer-looking surface
More even-looking contours
Reduced visibility of rippling
Results vary, and complete elimination of cellulite should not be promised.
-
EMTONE® should not be applied over areas with certain metal or electronic implants. The manufacturer also warns that burns may occur with heat-based treatment.
Tell Dr. Eakin if you have:
An electronic or metal implant
Pregnancy or possible pregnancy
Active cancer or recent cancer treatment
An open wound or active infection
Significant swelling or unexplained edema
Reduced ability to feel heat
A bleeding disorder or tendency to bruise
Recent surgery in the area
A hernia near the proposed treatment region
Significant vascular disease
An unexplained mass
A new or changing skin lesion
A recent injection or other procedure in the area
-
Cellulite and tissue quality continue to be influenced by:
Genetics
Aging
Hormonal changes
Skin elasticity
Weight fluctuations
Activity level
Muscle tone
Pregnancy
Overall health
Published research has documented aesthetic improvement for several months following treatment, but long-term durability varies.
Some patients may choose periodic maintenance treatments to support their results.
Maintaining a relatively stable weight, staying active, performing resistance exercise, and meeting nutritional needs may support overall body quality but cannot guarantee that cellulite will not return.
