FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

• What can I expect during laser hair removal treatments?

  A handpiece delivers light energy into the targeted areas on your skin. Next, a controlled amount of therapeutic heat safely and effectively damages the hair follicles. Treatments take anywhere from a few minutes to about an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated.

• Do GentleMax® Pro treatments hurt?

  GentleMax® system features a patented Dynamic Cooling Device, which minimizes discomfort by releasing a quick burst of very cool mist before and after each laser pulse. This allows for cooling of the skin while providing comfort to the client. Some patients report a sensation similar to being snapped with a rubber band, but that generally resolves quickly with DCD cooling. A topical anesthetic may be used prior to treatment but is generally not needed.

• How do I prepare for treatments?

  Hair in the treatment area should be shaved 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. For best results, hair should be slightly visible. Do not apply lotion or oils to the skin before arriving at your appointment. Area should be free of tanning products and no recent tan.

• Is GentleMax® Pro safe for darker skin types?

  There’s a safe, effective and comfortable treatment option for every skin tone. During the consultation, the physician will determine the best treatment for your individual needs. A test spot may also be performed.

• How many treatment sessions will I need?

  You’ll need a few treatments to get optimal results because hair grows in three stages: growth, transitional, and shedding. In the growth stage hair is thickest and darkest, so laser treatments are most effective. The hairs on your body are not always at the same stage so you’ll need to undergo a few treatments, an average of six weeks apart, to catch all of them in the growth stage.
